Time to be Stupid ASC

Wearing their hearts on their sleeves the duo behind Stupid ASC have created a label worth noting. For Harvey and Cat, if you’re not one to take life too seriously, you’re pretty much part of the gang.

Although the brand was born in Les Deux Alpes, a small town high in the mountains, it aims to capture the imagination of “every like-minded idiot around the planet, from the Alpes, to the sea, to the cities and beyond.”

Stupid ASC The Icon Sweatshirt

Mirroring the unwritten lifestyle rules of the extreme sport maverick, Stupid ASC blends snow and surf functionality with street wear influences. The result is a range of clothing that is durable, comfortable and timeless – something everyone with a seasonal hobby or profession undoubtedly needs.

Their AW14 collection combines ski resort living with touches of modern utilitarian design, engineered for any environment. Their signature piece has to be their exclusive piste-map camo sweatshirt, featuring a selection of their favourite Alpine resorts and snowboarding spots remixed into a digital sublimated print. We highly recommend getting your hands on one.

Other favourite picks include the fold-up white camo t-shirt – an epic addition to your basics wardrobe – and the burgundy riding shirt.

So if you have the confident fearlessness to jump headlong 100% into everything, you probably deserve to have Stupid ASC clothing on you at all times.

(It's worth noting they have a small selection for women on their website, too!)

Fashion Pinspiration

One of our favourite ever social platforms has now become a huge and reliable compilation of fashion inspiration.  Pinterest has been growing at a ridiculous rate over the past few years and we've enjoyed getting fully hooked on it - it has become an unmissable daily habit.  There are so many different uses for Pinterest, mainly we love perusing around for great photography, funny quotes, artsy things and, of course, fashion tips and inspiration.

As much as we love shopping online at our various favourite stores, there is something more endearing about seeing how people have put together outfits to fit their own style.  Our favourite outfits, we have decided, are not always the expensive designer ones, actually they are the ones that combine a mixture of vintage thrift, high street and perhaps a cheeky designer item - street style.  The most important thing is that you express your own style through what you wear and we've found some amazing "Pinspiration" that inspires us to do just that.

You can let us know what you think and what you like in our comments box below.  Find us on Pinterest to see more of our compilation of visual awesomeness: pinterest.com/littlewingmag

A white, giant treat.

White Giant EP Artwork

We don't know much about this four-piece band (yet) but what we do know is that alternative indie group White Giant has been kicking up a storm in the Midlands since they got together late last year. With their energetic, fearless sound and stage presence, these boys have taken it upon themselves to create some pretty banging music for us to enjoy.

We'll have more on them in the near future - once we get the chance to go to Leicester, hit up some of their gigs and have a chat with them.

And so, without further ado, here's a link to their bandcamp page where you can download their self-titled EP (and you can name your price for it!)

Enjoy!

Burger or Lobster. It’s as simple as that!

photo-1-610x455

Last night we took a little stroll down Dean Street in London's Soho. Our aim was to find one of the most talked about restaurants in town: Burger & Lobster. It was recommended a few weeks ago by a fellow food lover so we decided to give it a go, despite the warning of a long wait before being seated.

I'm not a huge fan of waiting for food. I'm pretty impatient, especially after work when I tend to feel rather peckish. Nevertheless, we had visitors all the way from Colombia, so this was a must. And let me tell you - it was well worth the hour and a half wait. Like, really worth it.

We chilled by the bar with some mojitos (9.50 a pop, but if this is a bit too steep for your liking, the maître d' takes your name and number so you can go for drinks elsewhere while you wait for your table) chatting about this and that, filled with anticipation as waiters went to and fro carrying delectable platters teasing us with incredible smells.

Finally seated in our booth, we were given a pretty straighforward choice - it's all in the name  - burger or lobster. You can have the lobster whole or in a sweet brioche bun or you can have a beef burger, all accompanied by skinny fries and a bowl of salad. Without a doubt in our minds, we went for the whole lobster and the bun and I haven't been so happy about eating something since I tried a pork burrito in the Mexican eatery Wahaca (another story for a different day). The lobster meat was cooked to perfection, succulent and served with a heavenly garlic and butter sauce on the side. Chips - crispy. Salad - refreshing. The meal in its entirety - finger-lickin' good.

Go to this place. I urge you. Each platter is £20, a reasonable price for a filling and totally banging meal.

They have several locations, too. Check out their website here.

Must have: Cambridge Satchel

An old classic turned into a modern phenomenon!  It's not just the satchels that we're obsessing over, it's the branding and the whole story behind this company.  If you haven't had a chance to hear about how The Cambridge Satchel Company came about then have a look at the video below and see Julie's journey.  She makes it look so easy!

These Cambridge Satchel's are the perfect mix of a usable classic handbag mixed with cool colours and great craftsmanship.  We're very excited about the fact that bright coloured handbags are around and about.. we're suckers for bright coloured accessories and what an awesome way to brighten up a dull winters day!

Loved by bloggers and fashionistas all over the world, Julie's humble idea has exploded in the fashion industry and is pouring all over our social media pages.  And we say all the more power to you!  We're inspired and hope to achieve half the success that Julie has.

A Magical Parade

In November 2012, the streets of Knightsbridge witnessed a truly spectacular event.  The collaboration of Disney and Harrods was highly anticipated in the months approaching the event.  Londonites and visitors alike lined the streets outside of Harrods, poised and ready to witness the unveiling of the Christmas windows.  Here's a little preview:

Quivering in the cold, we grabbed some meatball soup and warmed our bellies while we waited for the show to start.  And woe, was it a show.  All of a sudden, Disney music started blaring out all around the streets and then, despite all of the traffic on Brompton road, a glowing Cinderella carriage appeared being pulled by six beautiful white horses.

(Alas, I wasn't in the best position for photo taking)

From the carriage emerged a very real Cinderella and the Fairy God Mother.  Their looks and mannerisms were un-canny.

After the show, I realised that my cheeks were hurting because I was grinning so much throughout.  I guess I still have a soft spot for Disney...  Who doesn't right!?

The night ended with a bang...
